2020 is a rough year for the travel industry. Halfway through the year, it’s clear that Washington, DC tourism is not going to be the same because of Covid-19. As a result, it’s time to discuss the future of Trip Hacks DC.
In this episode Rob takes the mic for a solo podcast. He gives you a behind-the-scenes look at what the decline in tour revenue has meant for the company. And what the future holds for the Trip Hacks DC podcast, YouTube channel, and tour company.

Here’s what the future holds for Trip Hacks DC.
Trip Hacks DC Podcast
The podcast is going into hibernation. Since Trip Hacks DC is a guest-based podcast, there are logistical challenges that 2020 is proving too much to overcome. Podcast episodes are often recorded well in advance, which is normally fine. However, in 2020, things are changing so quickly that recording episodes in advance doesn’t work because they are out-of-date so quickly.
Starting in July, the podcast will go into hibernation. It will return once it looks like travel is ready to return.
Trip Hacks DC YouTube channel
If you like the YouTube channel then the good news is that videos will continue. However, they will do so on a reduced frequency. For the past three years we tried to publish a video nearly every Sunday. Starting in July that frequency will drop to every other Sunday. Once interest in travel planning content comes back then we expect to return to the previous schedule.
Trip Hacks DC tours
We re-opened Trip Hacks DC tours in June, but so far demand is extremely light. It’s very hard to predict demand for tours based on what we know from previous years. So we have to play it by ear. The best way to keep up with tour availability is simple keep an eye on the website.
